Living room lighting – Ambient lighting is the general lighting that illuminates an entire room. Ambient lighting is not focused on a particular subject, such as screen lighting, nor is it specific to a task such as desk lighting. The ambient lighting will illuminate an entire space normally from a ceiling lamp. In the living rooms, ambient lighting comes from recessed lighting, popularly known as can or spotlights. Track lighting can also provide general lighting in a large room and is used in applications where roof access is not available. In addition to spot lighting, ambient lighting can come from a single fixture centered on the ceiling of the room, like a chandelier.

Measure your living room. You will need the length and width of your room. You will create a scale drawing of the room using the architectural scale rule. An architectural scale allows you to create a smaller version of your room size with smaller dimensions. The rule has several different scales, but for each one a fraction represents a foot of real size. For example, one side of the ruler is a quarter-inch scale. Where a quarter of an inch is equal to one foot. Use the measurements of your room and draw the room using the architectural scale.
